Temple of Whollyness (2013)

Black Rock Desert, Nevada

Assembly Crew Supervisor, Rigging, Heavy Equipment operation, CNC post-processing

Design by Gregg Fleishman and Synthesis LLC with Melissa (Syn) Barron and Lightning Clearwater III. Lighting by Bentley Meeker. Built by hundreds of volunteers!

The Burning Man Temple serves as a dedicated space for participants to contemplate, reflect, celebrate, and remember significant moments in their lives, acting as a communal area for personal expression and release, before being ceremoniously burned at the end of the Burning Man event, signifying a symbolic letting go of the past and renewal.

The epic central pyramid of the Temple of Whollyness – 64’ tall with an 87’x 87’ base – is designed with sacred mathematical proportions. Built completely out of geometric interlocking wood pieces that fit together without the use of nails, glue or metal fasteners.
